Goodbye scorching summer heat, hello winter! As the temperatures fall, check out these 6 places to enjoy with friends and family. 

Dolphin Park

Enjoy views of the mangroves at the newly renovated Dolphin Park, which has 10 barbecue stations, shaded areas and several fountains in addition to children’s play areas that have recently had a facelift. The park is well lit with ample car parking plus food trailers too.

Top Tip: Walk along the mangroves and if you are a bird watcher then you might catch a heron or one of UAE’s native bird species. The park can get busy on Fridays, if you want to avoid crowds then plan your trip on a week day.

Location: It’s located on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street, at the end of the Eastern Corniche.

Fees: Free to enter, parking charges apply on specific dates.

 

Khalifa Park

Khalifa Park is one of the largest parks in Abu Dhabi so there is plenty of green spaces for a relaxing picnic and dedicated barbecue stations. The park has a train that’s fun for all ages, stopping in several locations, and a Maritime Museum taking you through the history of Abu Dhabi.  Top Tip: the park is open from 10AM every day and closes at 11PM Thursday to Sunday, but 10PM all other days.

Location: Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan St, Zone 1 in Abu Dhabi – Opposite ADIB

Fees: Entrance fee is AED 2.00 per person, the train ride is AED 3.00 and AED 5.00 per person for entrance into the museum. All kids under 1 meter go free.

 

Delma Park

Delma Park is great for sports lovers with plenty of facilities like a small climbing frame, a running track, tennis courts, basketball courts, a football pitch, plus shaded children’s play areas. Top Tip: it’s one of the smaller parks, but located centrally and easy to access if you live close by.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is located opposite to Mina port and close to the Corniche. It has barbeque areas located all around the park with dedicated play areas too, and kiosks for drinks, which makes it perfect place for young families. Top Tip: There are several parks along this stretch of the Corniche which are popular spots for local residents barbecuing on the weekends so the area can become quite busy on the weekends especially from late in the afternoon.

Location: Off Al Firdous Street, Corniche East.

Fees: Free entry and open 24 hours.

 

 

Umm Al Emarat Park

Umm Al Emarat Park is one of the most popular parks in Abu Dhabi and has loads to offer. There's a large open, green space popular for families playing sport and picnicking and you might spot the odd yoga class going on. It has an outdoor gym, several children’s play areas, and a petting zoo to keep the kids happy. The water features, landscaped plant beds and benches give everyone in the park a sense of relax. Don't miss the botanical garden, housing over 200 regional plant species and a 1,000 person amphitheatre. The entrance is lined with several restaurants and cafes, including the popular Home Bakery - make sure you find Salt!

Location: 15th Street, Mushrif Area.

Fees: AED 10.00 and annual passes also available to purchase.

 

 

Reem Central Park

Reem Central Park has a large children’s play area with a sand pit as well as chill-out zones with large colourful bean bags close to the food trucks. There are also facilities to suit teenaged kids which include two basketball courts and a skate & BMX park.  The park has its own stretch of beach where you can hire kayaks and explore the mangroves, close to restaurants and cafes. There are regular movie screenings tooo - great for those winter nights.

Location: Shams, Reem Island. Open from 3pm – 10pm

Fees: Free to enter.
